My personality can really go from one extreme to the other, and so this personal brand board is the best way for me to show off all aspects of my personality.
Fashion is such a personal subject for me, and I appreciate watching how people perceive it in their own unique way; it adds a sense of personality to an otherwise ordinary topic. Fashion is enticing, inventive, and ever-changing, and in some ways, it can be compared to religion. This is the most appealing aspect of pursuing a fashion-related degree: it is unpredictable and has the potential to have such a significant impact on someone's life. One of the reasons I chose this course was because of blogger and PHD Victoria McGrath (also known as InTheFrow). Her style and attitude towards fashion is something I’ve never come across before and I love the way that she styles her clothes in a sophisticated yet trendy manner.
I also enjoy watching runway shows, with Jacquemus F/W 2020 and Versace S/S 2018 being two of my favourites. Because of the simplicity yet sophistication of the items, the Jacquemus show was one of my favourites. The entire collection had a neutral/earthy tonal concept, but the way it was presented to the public clearly demonstrated who they wanted to be their target audience and who they wanted to wear their products in the future. One of my favourite Versace shows is the one devoted to Gianni Versace. The pieces in this collection are once again rather unique, although they are all in the same aesthetic. Even though the show featured some spectacular items, Versace also managed to include some of their iconic black and gold designs, as seen in the fashion brand board below (worn by Gigi Hadid).
In addition, I enjoy visiting new places. New York is one of the places on my bucket list that I want to visit. I've always appreciated the city for its diversity and for being one of the world's fashion capitals. I also admire the visual and concept of living and working in New York, as well as the mood it creates. I do, however, adore my hometown and the energy that Brighton emits. One of my favourite and most calming things is the sound and fragrance of the sea.
I enjoy relaxing and trying to get out of my thoughts, and one of my favourite ways to do so is to go for a walk or run. I live in an area where the pathways go to some incredible locations with breath-taking views of Sussex, so doing this a couple of times a week helps me unwind. In addition, I find that having a lot of plants and greenery in my room creates a relaxing environment. It also provides me with a daily schedule, which I appreciate.
My own style and interest in fashion are diverse, although I do tend to gravitate toward a certain brand or style of apparel. I have a very minimalistic sense of style, as you can see in my own fashion brand board, but I also love to wear colour and show a different side of myself when I wear Indian clothing.
I prefer classic colours and designs that I know would complement my personality and body type, but I respect people who can pull off more extravagant attire and brilliant colours. As you can see from the brand board, I have a fascination for classic runway outfits. Evidently the Chanel chain dress, is one of my all-time favourite dresses, and I adore how simple but bold it is.
Paolo Sebastian has always been one of my favourite designers. He has the ability to make princess-like dresses that are yet simple to wear. I've never seen anything like it during a fashion presentation as far as the way his clothes dangle from the models' bodies. He released his "Once Upon a Time" collection in 2018, which was inspired by Disney princesses. This collection is one of my all-time favourites, and it inspired me to start embroidering inscriptions and symbols on clothing, which I continue to do to this day.
